njaanappaana by poonthaanam

This is a prayer song written by Poonthaanam Namboothiri, while he was in great pain for the loss of his one and only child. The lines are very simple to understand and very meaningful also and it makes us aware of our follies and selfishness and greed and he repeatedly tells us to concentrate our mind on God and don't go after worldly pleasures; for, they are perishable at any moment and bring us grief and the only true happiness we would get is from renunciation and love toward God and unselfish love towards His (god's) children. From unselfishness only we can get true peace, satisfaction and if we are content, we are really rich in God's Eye. Any riches could not make a man happy lest he find his inner peace in himself .
A must to read book for hindu children ( for others also- for it is purely philosophical),in my opinion
njaanappaana.
